Trevor Werner by Scott Barnes

Last fall when I profiled Indianapolis photographer Scott Barnes I was struck by the philosophies and drive that inspire his work. (Read Gods In Spirit HERE:)

One quote from Scott has stayed with me;

'If I'm photographing you, I think you're beautiful.'

I know many might think that if your a professional photographer it is expected you will shoot anyone, anything and use your skills, lighting, fashion and of course photoshop and editing to make the shot work. Although skill and editing are important in any photograph I believe Scott's philosophy gives him a head start in ending up with a incredible image.

Most of the photographers I profile on FH shoot for reasons beyond the love of the art, beyond even passion. For many, it is an expression of self, a way to channel who they are into something concrete, permanent. A way of leaving a piece of themselves in each and every one of their shots.

In the case of 21 year old Bloomington model Trevor Werner, the goal of both he and Scott was the same, to create something edgy and adult. Scott says that Trevor is often labeled as having the 'All American' look. Trevor finds it ironic that he is often called 'cute' as his tastes and passions tend to be more electic.

Trevor is a bit of a medley of traits associated with 'All American'. Raised on a farm in Bloomington Indiana, Trevor was taught to honor and respect family, loves football and partying with his friends. 'American' continued to be a theme into his teen years. A few years ago Trevor ended up in Hollywood as one of the top 50 finalists on season 6 of American Idol.

I think Trevor is actually part of a trend which is changing the way 'All American' is defined. Once used to describe mostly 'straight', 'clean cut' sports hero's, the changing face of the country has forced the definition to broaden to include a 21 year old model who works as a hair designer and who is studying classical voice. Trevor Werner is currently working on his second CD entitled 'Strength'.

Scott says that although Trevor just started seriously pursuing modeling, he is an extremely hard worker. 'He is very eager and will try just about anything as long as it's not tacky.'

Trevor equally enjoyed his work with Scott and really loves the results they created as a team. 'Scott was such a great person to work with. You can really tell that he loves what he puts into his photographs.'

Awesome. My friends say I am silly for paying so much attention to eyebrow color because I have found eyebrow color always matches pubes color. I prefer no pubes at all (been keeping myself perfectly smooth for years all the way back to high school) but if pubes have to be there, I love it when they are blonde.
